At CAR-AKAS we offer two insurance options for your rental:
Both options are subject to the terms and exclusions listed on this page.
Regardless of the insurance option selected, no insurance covers the following:
Any costs arising from the above remain the full responsibility of the renter.
Simple Insurance is included in every rental and provides basic coverage according to the general rental terms.
In case of damage to the vehicle, the renter is responsible up to the amount of the Excess, depending on the car category (see “Security Deposit & Excess” below).
Simple Insurance does not reduce the security deposit and does not cover the exclusions listed above.
Premium Insurance is an optional extra that can be added on a per-day basis, depending on the vehicle category.
With Premium Insurance:
In case of an incident under Premium Insurance, the renter is charged a file handling fee of €75 for the processing of the claim with the insurance company.
A Security Deposit is required for every rental, regardless of whether the customer chooses Standard or Premium insurance.
The deposit amount is pre-authorized on the renter’s card via POS upon vehicle pick-up.
This is not a charge, but a temporary hold which is fully released if the vehicle is returned without damage.
For all insurance options, in case of loss of key or damage (including water damage), a fixed fee of €300 applies.
A Security Deposit is required for every rental, regardless of whether the customer chooses Standard or Premium insurance.
The deposit serves as a guarantee and is used only in case of damage or violation of the rental terms.
The deposit is not charged online.
It is placed as a pre-authorization (temporary hold) on the renter’s card during vehicle pick-up, using our Viva POS terminal.

The deposit is fully released once:
